How to install WhatsApp on iPod or iPad without Jailbreak.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular cross-platform instant messaging service. Almost all of my all of them in my phone contacts use it. Recently I thought of installing WhatsApp on my iPad because I love typing on my iPad. But I was disappointed because it is supported only on iPhone. After a little research I was able to install WhatsApp on my iPad and thought of sharing the method with you Guys. The method is very simple and does not even require jailbreak.
Install WhatsApp on iPod Touch or iPad without Jailbreak
Step 1: Open iTunes on your computer and download WhatsApp. I know, I know you guys want to install WhatsApp on our iPod/ iPad. But this step is needed to obtain .ipa file of WhatsApp.
Step 2: Navigate to iTunes Media folder. Depending on OS the iTunes Media folder can be found on following path:
  • Mac OS X 10.7 Lion: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications/
  • Mac OS X 10.6: ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications/
  • Windows: C:\Users\Username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications\
Step 3: Find the file named WhatsApp from the above folder and copy it on Desktop.
Step 4: Download iFunBox from i-funbox.com. Connect your iPod/iPad to computer and open iFunBox.
Step 5: Click on ‘iFunBox Classic’ and then select ‘Install App’. Now select the WhatsApp file you copied on desktop.

Step 6: Once iFunBox shows success message disconnect your device. You have successfully installed WhatsApp. Don’t open the application until you finish the activation and the link for the activation process is posted below.
This method will help you in installing WhatsApp on your iPod Touch or iPad but the application won’t work. It will show an error saying “Sorry, your device is currently not supported”. To solve this error kindly follow the Instructions below Were you able to install the application on your device using this method.
So in this post we’ll show you how to activate WhatsApp on iPod or iPad without jailbreaking your device. Usally if you try to open WhatsApp on any iOS device except iPhone it will show an error displayed in the above image. The method posted below will help you in bypassing the error and activating the application successfully. Before you start this method you need an iPhone to complete the process so borrow somebody’s iPhone. Also make sure, don’t open WhatsApp application after you have installed it on your iPod/iPad. Open the application only after you complete the below steps.
Activate WhatsApp on iPod or iPad without Jailbreak
Step 0.5: We included this half step for those who have jailbroken device. Instead of going through the whole process just install WhatsPad from Cydia and you are good to go. No need to go through the rest of the process. If your device is not jailbroken kindly move onto next step.
Step 1: The actual method starts from this step. If you followed our method to install WhatsApp on your device then you already have iFunBox installed on your computer. If not download iFunBox from i-funbox.com
Step 2: This is going to make your friend, from whom you have borrowed the iPhone, very angry – If the iPhone has WhatsApp installed on it then delete the app. Now install WhatsApp on the iPhone, open it and activate it using the mobile number that you will be using in WhatsApp on your iPod/iPad.
Step 3: Connect the iPhone to your computer and open iFunBox. Select ‘iFunBox Classic’ and on left side click on ‘User Applications’ under the iPhone. From the list of applications select WhatsApp. Once you see all the files under WhatsApp, select both ‘Documents’ and ‘Library’ folder. Now click on ‘Copy To PC’ and save these selected folders on Desktop.
Step 4: Disconnect the iPhone and connect your iPod/iPad. Again select ‘iFunBox Classic’ and on left side click on ‘User Applications’ under the iPhone. From the list of applications select WhatsApp. Now copy the two folders ‘Documents’ and ‘Library’ present on Desktop and paste it into the WhatsApp folder as shown below. Once the folders are successfully copied into iFunBox, disconnect your iPod/iPad. WhatsApp would be activated and ready to use.
If you still get the error saying “Sorry, your device is currently not supported”, delete the application and try again from Step 3. Enjoy WhatsApping, and let us know in the comments section if you come across any problem while following this method.
Note: For those who don’t have iPhone and still want to activate WhatsApp, kindly visit the WhatsApp Activation page and fill the form. The same apply for users that are facing a different error “Failed to verify your device. This is most likely caused by you upgrading or changing your phone.”. Fill the form and we’ll send you the Documents and Library folder. Click here to find the WhatsApp Activation Page.

  5. It used to work till yesterday, when WhatsApp disappeared. I copied the old "Documents" and "Library" folders (I saved those when doing the installation) but it is not working, it is saying “Failed to verify your device. This is most likely caused by you upgrading or changing your phone.”

I suspect WhatsApp changed something. Is it still working on your iPads?

  10. I experienced a similar problem on my ipad 3. The way I got it to work was to completely remove whatsapp from the iphone and go through the whole verification process again (if you don't get the text with new verification code its not a new installation). One way to do this is by putting in different telephone numbers, and then revert back to the one you actually intend to use. .

  15. Contact the WhatsApp support and ask them to allow iPad users to download it. I tried it but if many iPad users request then they will definitely allow us to download the app.
